What’s Happening on Our Peabody Campus
Our New Year’s celebration was indeed memorable. Brad Ryan entertained as residents from our entire campus were able to gather in the newly renovated Great Room at BCL. For the first time since the covid restrictions began, everyone was able to be together. It was the perfect way to usher in 2023.
January is chockfull of fun activities. BCL residents will enjoy playing “The Price is Right,” with some great prizes in store for the winners. Both BCL and Kaplan Estates residents are looking forward to our Smores & Stories Campfire Parties. Residents share stories about their past, play Charades around the campfire, and of course, sample delicious s’mores. Also on the calendar this month: Ice Cream Sundae Parties with talented Pianist Steve Belgiorno. Music and ice cream are two of our favorite things!
We had a milestone birthday celebration at Kaplan Estates. Resident Freda London turned 100 years old on January 11! Entertainer Tommy Sheehan was on hand to dedicate songs to Freda, followed by refreshments with family and friends. Happy Birthday Freda!
Over at Kaplan, we are continuing to celebrate the ancestries of our residents and staff with our International Festivals. This month’s the destination is Italy, which will showcase traditional Italian food, rich historical perspectives, and festive holiday celebrations. Our popular Natalie Kaplan Speaker Series will feature two individuals who will share their immigrant experiences.
We were excited to discover that Roberta, a Kaplan resident, still has her old albums and record player. It’s the perfect excuse to host a Sock Hop party! Jimmy Honohan will be the DJ on hand, mixing Roberta’s albums with modern day musical equipment, alongside “sock hop” party refreshments. The 50’s are back in full swing!
