ALS, MS & Ventilator Care
The combined vision of architect/resident Steve Saling and Chelsea Jewish Lifecare’s Barry Berman resulted in the revolutionary ALS & MS houses located at the Leonard Florence Center for Living.
As the country’s first urban model Green House® skilled nursing facility, the Center cares for more individuals living with ALS than anywhere else in the world. Internationally renowned for its accomplishments, the Center hosts visitors from around the world who hope to replicate this story of success.
Full access to the building with an eye gaze system that allows building independence and navigation. Elevators, room darkening blinds, temperature adjustment, and nurse call system all can be accessed by those with limited physical abilities. As part of the commitment to living, resident outings include sky diving, sailing, Broadway shows and sporting events such as Celtics, Patriots, and Red Sox games.
Philanthropy supports our residents, along with the annual ALS & MS Walk for Living, where residents, families, staff, and community members join together to honor these inspiring individuals. This award-winning residence draws people from all over this country and beyond, as they fight these cruel diseases, wanting only to live as independently as possible, with dignity and respect.
