Staff at the Katzman Family Center for Living were treated to a mouthwatering homemade kosher barbecue feast in recognition of their hard work, dedication and compassionate care. And what a feast it was!

Scott Katzman, owner of Smoking Papa, known for its award-winning smoked kosher meats, catered a special staff appreciation luncheon featuring tender, slow-smoked brisket and all the trimmings.

“We’re thrilled to have Scott Katzman share his delicious smoked brisket with our staff,” said Barry Berman, CEO of Chelsea Jewish Lifecare. “Our employees work tirelessly every day to ensure our residents receive the highest quality of care. This luncheon is one way we can show our appreciation for all they do.”

The luncheon was especially meaningful, celebrating the longstanding bond between the Katzman family and Chelsea Jewish Lifecare. Scott’s father, Myer Katzman, was a longtime resident of Cohen Florence Levine Estates Assisted Living before moving to the Katzman Family Center for Living, where he remained until his passing in 2025. Beloved by staff and fellow residents, Myer was a cherished member of the community.

The Katzman family has also helped shape the organization. Elliot Katzman and his wife, Donna, made a generous donation to the skilled nursing residence, which was renamed the Katzman Family Center for Living in 2019. The community was previously known as Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home.

“Our ties to the Katzman family go back many years,” Berman said. “I have known the family for a long time, and their friendship and support mean the world to us.”

The menu was every bit as memorable as the occasion, with steaming trays of melt-in-your-mouth smoked brisket, corn on the cob, barbecue sauce, homemade coleslaw, fresh salad and more. The delicious spread brought smiles, full plates and plenty of enthusiastic reviews.

Activities Director Roy Roldan summed the event up perfectly: “The food was amazing, especially the brisket. It was so delicious. We all really enjoyed it!”

The luncheon was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the dedicated staff who make Katzman Family Center for Living such a special place—and to share a meal with a family whose connection to the organization runs deep.
