Family Letter for Chelsea Jewish Lifecare and JGS Lifecare

To Our Dear Residents and Families,

As you may know, Chelsea Jewish Lifecare and JGS Lifecare recently formed a new venture, Legacy Lifecare, in order to accomplish our expanded mission of helping other nonprofit organizations deliver the highest quality care and services to seniors in the community. We are thrilled to announce that Deutsches Altenheim, a highly respected leader in care for seniors, recently joined the Legacy Lifecare family. Deutsches Altenheim’s campus in West Roxbury includes the German Centre for Extended Care, a 133-bed skilled nursing facility; Edelweiss Village, a 62-apartment assisted living residence; and Senior Place, an adult day health center.

The current healthcare environment has become increasingly complex and competitive. In response, many organizations have sought to form alliances and affiliations in order to share resources, learn best practices, and grow. It is with this intent that we started our conversations with Deutsches Altenheim about a year ago. As we learned more about their group, we were struck by the many similarities between our three organizations. Like us, Deutsches Altenheim has been serving elders in the community who need the full range of senior care services for over 100 years. We share the same philosophy, values, and goals. In particular, we share a commitment to providing the most compassionate and highest quality care, living options, and support services for seniors.

As a result of the similarities and potential synergy between our organizations, Deutsches Altenheim made the decision to join the Legacy Lifecare family. Going forward, we will help Deutsches Altenheim improve resident care and efficiency by implementing systems already in place on our Chelsea, Peabody, and Longmeadow campuses. In addition, we will learn from Deutsches Altenheim and be able to bring these learnings to the rest of our organization. Please note that there will be no operational or leadership changes at Chelsea Jewish Lifecare or JGS Lifecare due to this new partnership.

We are confident that having Deutsches Altenheim join us will make us better and stronger. Thank you for your loyalty, trust and support. We look forward to you joining us in welcoming Deutsches Altenheim into our wonderful family.

Warm regards,
Adam Berman, President
