Behind the Scenes at the Leonard Florence Center for Living

Residents look forward to starting the week with our Monday concerts. On April 18, the amazing and talented Heart & Soul duo will perform live. Our Scrabble games on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays are also becoming widely popular amongst residents. In fact, we are running multiple games at the same time. And, of course, our special bingo on Sundays, run by Slifka house resident Lynda K., are in huge demand. Linda, who has MS, has been a resident at LFCL for over four years. Recently she’s been volunteering and is a huge help to the staff. Linda runs scrabble games as well as bingo on Sundays. Thank you, Linda, for all your support. You are always there when we need you!

For Passover, we held Seder services on Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16. Sandie also hosted a Passover talk group so residents could discuss such things as the holiday rituals, what Passover means to residents, and family memories from past holidays. It was wonderful to celebrate Passover in person this year.

Our new Employee of the Month program is a huge success! Staff vote every month for an employee who goes “above and beyond.” For the month of April, Dennis Mesina, a nurse from the 11pm-7:30am shift, was bestowed this honor. Dennis has been with the organization for many years and is unfailingly reliable, widely-respected by his peers, and well-liked by the residents. Congratulations Dennis!
