Behind the Scenes at Cohen Florence Levine Estates and Florence & Chafetz

Mary Ann Pires, our beloved receptionist, has worked for Chelsea Jewish Lifecare for 60 years! Recently Mary Ann, her family and staff celebrated this momentous milestone. A plaque in her name was placed outside the library in a touching ceremony. Chelsea Jewish Lifecare CEO Barry Berman gave a heartfelt tribute to Mary Ann.

From 1962 until the present time, Mary Ann has worked in numerous positions at all three Chelsea locations. Mary Ann started her career at Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home (now known as Katzman Family Center for Living) as a nurse’s aide. She has been indispensable ever since. Today, at age 80, she works full-time as the adored receptionist at Cohen Florence Levine Estates Assisted Living. Her broad smile, personal manner and attention to detail have made her a favorite among both residents and staff. A Chelsea Record writer Cary Shuman and a photographer attended the event. Florence & Chafetz residents have been busy with a myriad of activities. They are making a variety of different crafts in conjunction with the HHA every Wednesday. T-shirts are next on the list. F&C residents are also enjoying getting manicures every Friday with Cathy. A little pampering is definitely in order! Our recent visit to Friendly’s restaurant, a New England institution since 1935, was a huge hit. Take a look at the photos from the outing. There are smiles all around.

Residents and staff are gearing up for the holidays. The big event: a festive New Year’s Eve party with live entertainment, refreshments, and dancing. What better way to usher in 2023?
