CHELSEA — It wasn’t too long ago that O. J. Brigance of the Baltimore Ravens made the tackle that started things in Superbowl XXXV versus the Giants. And it wasn’t long ago that Steve Saling worked for a large architecture firm designing accessible landscapes. The two men didn’t know each other then, nor would they have had the expectation of meeting. Today, however, they share much more than the distinction of being standouts in their professions. They are both living with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), dependent on wheelchairs, nearly fully paralyzed and talking through computers that they operate with their eyes.
