Ellen Gordon named Community Relations Coordinator for Aviv Centers for Living

Ellen Gordon joins Aviv Centers for Living as the new Community Relations Coordinator. This newly created role will be responsible for three core areas of focus: Intergenerational programming in coordination with the North Suburban JCC, who will be joining us in our new building this fall, Aviv’s volunteer network, the Friends of Aviv; and developing other community outreach and connection efforts on behalf of Aviv.
Ellen has long been an active part of the Aviv community and beyond. She began her relationship with Aviv when her Mother-in-law was a resident in our care in Swampscott. Ellen says “To see the level of loyalty and compassion that every staff member has for the residents, made me want to be a part of what was happening here”. An active volunteer and former board member, Ellen’s background is in education, specifically targeting speech pathology for early education aged children. “Putting together both my volunteer and professional lives made it a win/win situation for me. “
COO Matt Weinstock had great praise for this addition to the Aviv staff: “When Aviv sought a staff resource to develop intergenerational programming, Ellen Gordon was the clear choice. Ellen brings extraordinary depth and breadth of experience in working with children and seniors, has been a longstanding active volunteer with Aviv coupled with Aviv board experience and was instrumental in working on the task force which ultimately led to the NSJCC coming to operate on the Aviv campus in Peabody in September. We are fortunate and delighted to have Ellen join our staff. “
Ellen has great vision for this role. She hopes to create a space where multi-generations are in the building at the same time. A place for events, programs and meaningful volunteer opportunities for both individuals and families will become the norm in our beautiful new health center when we open this fall.
