Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Music Therapist to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is essential to our mission of providing holistic care to our residents. The Music Therapist will be responsible for designing and implementing music therapy interventions tailored to the individual needs and abilities of our residents. This position will work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to create an engaging, therapeutic environment that fosters emotional, cognitive, and social well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess residents’ needs and abilities and develop individualized music therapy plans to support their well-being.
- Conduct individual and group music therapy sessions, utilizing a variety of musical techniques to promote emotional and cognitive health.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nursing and social work staff, to integrate music therapy into residents’ overall care plans.
- Document residents’ progress, maintain accurate records of sessions, and regularly evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
- Adapt therapy plans and interventions based on ongoing assessments and feedback from residents, families, and staff.
- Participate in care team meetings to discuss resident progress and coordinate care approaches.
- Provide guidance and education to staff and family members about the benefits of music therapy for residents with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other conditions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in music therapy from an accredited institution.
- Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) with a valid license to practice in Massachusetts.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with seniors, particularly those with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other cognitive impairments.
- Strong understanding of therapeutic techniques for older adults and familiarity with evidence-based practices in music therapy.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate individuals with varying levels of cognitive and physical ability.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care, with a genuine interest in improving the quality of life for seniors.
Schedule:
- 20 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate program needs.
Compensation:
- Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience.
