Vaccination Day was an exciting time for the residents and staff at the Leonard Florence Center for Living. Walgreens Pharmacy arrived with seven pharmacists to administer the Pfizer vaccine.
The all-day event emphasized the superhero theme, with the campaign slogan “Not all Superhero’s wear capes, they wear masks” strategically placed on posters around the Center. Of course, the Leadership Team played a part as well, kicking off the event by wearing Superhero T-Shirts.
Each pharmacist willingly visited each resident’s room to administer the vaccine. You could feel the sense of hope in the residents! As one resident stated, “I never could imagine being this happy to get a vaccine. The isolation from my family has been unbearable. I can’t wait to hug them all.”
The Center vaccinated 95% of residents the first day, which a number higher than anticipated. Both staff and residents understood the importance of taking the vaccine. It is vital to protect our residents, to able to visit family members, and to go back to some sense of normalcy.
At LFCL, 106 staff members received the vaccine and many more will receive it at the next clinic, which is scheduled for January 25. Remember, this is a crucial step in having our lives return to normal.
