Warm and Welcoming

For almost 100 years, the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home (CJNH), the flagship property of Chelsea Jewish Lifecare, has cared for individuals with unyielding compassion, dignity and respect. Founded in 1919 by Lena Goldberg, the original goal of CJNH was to create a welcoming home for neighboring elders. Today, the concept has come full circle. We offer the highest quality of care to all our residents and families through the dedicated efforts of our specially trained staff members. Our mission is to provide exceptional skilled nursing care in a warm and inviting setting. Recently, the CJNH underwent a dramatic $16 million renovation. The completely remodeled five-story building reflects a legacy Green House® skilled nursing model, with kitchens on every floor, spacious gathering spaces and an abundance of glass and natural light.

Just Like Home

The residences are inspired by the Green House® concept, which creates the same feelings and experiences you get from living in a traditional home. One of the most appealing elements are the home-cooked meals. Kitchens in each “home” allow for wonderful aromas to permeate throughout the house. Each day, the chefs prepare high quality, delicious meals, incorporating fresh, seasonal ingredients.

Accommodations

Our rooms feature flat screen TV’s, beautiful large windows and individually controlled heating/air conditioning. Cozy fireplace living rooms, open kitchens and family style dining areas are situated on every floor.

Amenities

European day spa and salon; lobby, café and chapel. Common spaces feature bright furnishings, natural light and scenic views. The residence offers three kosher meals per day prepared by a private chef.

Long-Term Rehabilitation Services

Our dedicated doctors, nurses, therapists and social workers are advocates for seniors and their families and bring extensive experience in their fields. We offer exceptional care and access to a wide range of top medical experts. Working in close partnership with residents and their families, our overall goal is to provide the highest quality of care for every single resident.

Customized Care Plans

Our staff provides daily assistance with all personal care needs, including medication administration and incontinence management. Aging affects each person differently and we tailor our support services to best fit each individual’s needs.

The Kaleidoscope Program Only at CJNH

We are radically redefining and re-envisioning what nursing home life is — and how to live with aging, illness, Alzheimer’s or dementia. The Kaleidoscope Program at is an exceptional arts therapy specialty program only available at Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home. It represents a shift from primarily focusing on the personal care of the body to caring for the whole person – mind, heart, body and soul together. A typical day is as follows:

Morning Schedule

Typical morning consists of an arts program such as flower arranging, song-writing, listening to music or a creative group discussion.

Afternoons

Afternoons are filled with competitions involving staff and residents such as the shuffle toss, bowling, basket toss games and fishing tournaments.

Evenings

Night activities include card games, art projects concerts and birthday/holiday celebrations.

Testimonials

“The therapists here are amazing. When I came to Chelsea Jewish after my stroke, I could barely speak, let alone move my left side. Now I feel stronger and better than before.”

Resident

“I never imagined a place like this. I’ve been to other nursing homes but none as friendly and caring as the staff at Waldfogel.”

Daughter of Resident

“The scenic views and beautiful surroundings made an enormous difference in my recovery. It was actually a very peaceful and restorative experience.”

Resident

“I began volunteering at Foundation’s Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home and quickly realized what a special place this is. Residents are happy and the staff care. I enjoy being here, too.”

Volunteer

“During my mother’s first stay at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home, she was able to work with the Physical Therapy team and they made excellent progress with her. She was able to go home for several months, which meant the world to her since she lived independently in her own apartment. After some time, she arrived back at CJNH for palliative care and the level of care and compassion she received was very high. The staff treated her like family and we are so thankful for everything you did for her.”

Child of Resident

“I am grateful for the loving care given to my mom while she was at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home. There is no doubt in my mind that your facility’s efforts extended her quality of life for nearly 8 years. For that I am very thankful.”
