Position summary: As a member of our dietary team, the Registered Dietitian will be responsible for overseeing the nutritional care of our residents. Working with the healthcare team, you will ensure that residents receive balanced, appropriate and individualized meal plans that support their health and well-being.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree with a concentration in Food and Nutrition
  • Must have knowledge of therapeutic diets and a clinical nutrition background
  • Must be registered with The American Dietetic Association as well as maintain CEU’s on
  • going basis
  • Must be licensed by The Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, resident, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning
  • Must have good communication skills and be a team player
  • Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, the appearance of work areas and perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties
  • Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with the residents, personnel, and support agencies
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend and squat for prolonged periods
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interpret the department’s policies and procedures to employees, residents, visitors, Government agencies, etc., as necessary
  • Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies
  • Participate in orientation and counseling the diet tech
  • Attend dining room committee meetings and resident care plan meetings
  • Respond positively and timely to all resident, family and co-workers requests
  • Duties performed by the Registered Dietitian shall include nutrition assessments, annual and quarterly reviews, interim assessments for residents with compromised nutritional status, participation in care plan development, meal observation, and resident/family, visitation.
  • The Registered Dietitian shall provide nutrition education to resident, family, and/or Chelsea Jewish Lifecare staff as needed.
  • The Dietitian shall also assess compliance with the Mass Department of Public Health, OBRAH, and JACHO regulations, review/approve resident menus, and conduct in-service Education for the Chelsea Jewish Lifecare staff
  • Upon notification from the Nursing staff of weight change, the Registered Dietitian shall assess weight change/significant weight change and implement appropriate interventions.
  • The Registered Dietitian shall be an active member of the Interdisciplinary Team and participate in pertinent meeting as needed.
  • The Registered Dietitian shall serve as a resource to the Foodservice Department and assist In the department operations as needed.
  • Follow established infection control and universal precautions when performing daily tasks
  • Others as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed by the Administrator Director

Hours: Part-time – 16-20 hours
