The Leonard Florence Center for Living, located in scenic and historic “Admirals Hill” in Chelsea, MA is part of Chelsea Jewish Lifecare–a non-profit, mission driven organization which has been providing innovative care to the elderly and disabled in Massachusetts for over 100 years!

The Leonard Florence Center for Living sets the stage for a model of care that is far removed from traditional nursing homes. The prevailing goal of the Leonard Florence Center is to create a “real” home that provides exceptional care, but also supports those seeking to redefine the worth and meaning of late life and those living with debilitating diseases. It is not only the first urban Green House skilled nursing facility in the country, but it also has the remarkable distinction of showcasing three homes dedicated to caring for individuals living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease) and multiple sclerosis (M.S.). Most recently, we opened a state-of-the-art Ventilator Unit’the only one of the kind in the world!

The award-winning Leonard Florence Center for Living Green House, is a revolutionary, state-of-the-art skilled nursing residence. In the Fall of 2020, we opened a Vent Unit that is equipped with State of the Art Technology., where our residents can live independently in a “real” home-like setting, while receiving exceptional skilled nursing and compassionate care and treated with dignity and respect.

Position Summary:

The RN Manager / House Mentor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day department activities of the Vent Unit. You will be working on our busy and vitally important Vent Unit in our modern facility where staffing ratios are above industry averages. We have an on-site medical group and a unique “household” model of care. You will be part of a management team of proven, dedicated professionals committed to quality care and personal growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Assumes responsibility for all nursing care provided to residents within the Vent Unit; knows the residents’ conditions at all times; observes and supervises nursing care according to physician’s orders and in conformance with recognized nursing techniques and procedures, established standards and administrative policies.
  • Recognizes and interprets symptoms, reports on residents’ conditions and assists with or institutes remedial measures of adverse developments.
  • Assists in maintaining a physical, social and psychological environment which is conducive to the best interest and welfare of residents.
  • Investigates and studies trends and developments in nursing practices and techniques and assesses their adaptability to the needs of specific nursing policies.
  • Instructs staff in the use of policies and procedures and assures that all policies and procedures are followed by nursing staff.

Qualifications:

  • RN or graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current RN license in Massachusetts is required
  • One (1) to Three (3) years’ experience as a supervisor, preferred
  • Experience with patients/residents on Ventilators
  • Must have excellent clinical assessment skills
  • Must be able to communicate effectively
  • Must be able to demonstrate organizational skills.
