JGS Lifecare, located in Longmeadow, MA, is seeking an enthusiastic, caring and compassionate Life Enrichment Aide to join our Activities Department within our skilled nursing facility. This is a unique position that combines certified nursing aide and life enrichment together!
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION
- Assists the Life Enrichment Staff in executing each resident’s activity program and reports resident’s progress to the Unit Manager and Life Enrichment Staff. Monitors leisure activities for recreation and therapeutic purposes, designed to enhance the quality of life of each resident as well as maintain an open working relationship with the resident’s family or guardian.
- Leads group activities. Visits with residents on a one-to-one basis.
- Other duties as deemed necessary/appropriate and as assigned.
- Assist in feeding, toileting, keeping clean work environment.
- Work respectfully with Nursing Team and all other Departments.
- Provide proper communication.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Must posses and maintain an unencumbered CNA license.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- Must have a basic understanding of the needs of the elderly and have an empathetic approach to illness.
- Must have a basic knowledge of a variety of activities such as art, music, crafts, baking, games, sports, etc. and exhibit imagination, creativity, flexibility, a pleasant/friendly personality, and a strong sense of humor.
- Must exhibit the ability to give instructions to and lead others.
- Must have a willingness to participate in field related training.
- Must possess excellent communication skills and be able to relate professionally and positively to residents, family members, and facility staff.
- Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
- Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of the facility which include a medical and physical examination.
- Experience in a recreation setting preferred.
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
- Demonstrates basic knowledge of computer systems, applications, and other office equipment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to move throughout workday and perform physical activities, including sitting, standing, bending, twisting, stooping, and lifting/moving/pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
- Ability to participate in a variety of physical activities, dance, range of motion exercise, field trips, arts/crafts, low impact exercise.
- Ability to work with a variety of supplies/materials, glues, paper, paints, fabrics, cooking supplies/materials, arts/crafts materials.
- Ability to see, hear, feel, read, write, and verbalize clearly in English.

Full time
Hours are 10am-6pm, including every other weekend
