Human Resources Specialist – Employee Relations and Growth & Development

We are seeking a Human Resources Specialist with focus on Employee Relations and Growth & Development to join our team. The Employee Relations Specialist will assist in the execution of the company’s employee relations strategy which requires effective response and resolution of employee relations situations and proactive engagement to maintain a positive work environment. The position will support multiple business units in the state of Massachusetts.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR/organizational development or related business field or 5 years of HR generalist experience with minimum two years’ experience of demonstrated partnership with senior level leaders in the organization OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • SHRM- CP/SHRM- SCP or PHR/SPHR, preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of human capital management (HCM) principles and practices; knowledge of implementation techniques for effective deployment of human capital management strategies
  • Ability to partner with leaders to help navigate the organization through significant change utilizing effective project management and change management techniques and processes.
  • A broad technical expertise incomplex employee relations, engagement and retention, compensation, policy interpretation and application, learning and development, planning and other HR processes and programs.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills (written and verbal), conveying information with confidence and clarity
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with all levels in the organization
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to be flexible and available to interact with teammates at all levels; ability to be self-directed and motivated

What You’ll Do

Key responsibilities of the HR Specialist Employee Relations and Growth & Development will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conduct thorough and timely workplace investigations in accordance with the organization’s policies and complies with all applicable laws.
  • Provide guidance in situations requiring conflict resolution, policy/procedure interpretation, performance management, job eliminations and other terminations, disciplinary actions, and other issues representing significant risk to the organization.
  • Provide recommendations on policies and procedures that support a positive work experience.
  • Determine and implement a plan of action to include disciplinary or legal action when necessary, and resolving conflict in the workplace.
  • Investigate harassment, discrimination, hostile work environment, and other complaints of non-acceptable actions and behaviors.
  • Manage and partner with supervisors to counsel staff on performance and/or conduct issues to include termination discussions.
  • Research and analyze data, in conjunction with HRIS Specialist, pertaining to Human Resources and proactively implement programs to increase employee satisfaction.
  • Develop and provide training on employee relation topics.
  • Coach managers to motivate and encourage their staff.
  • Monitor turnover rates to determine and analyze departmental trends. Report trends in an effort to proactively address and resolve ongoing issues.
  • Provide guidance in situations requiring conflict resolution, policy/procedure interpretation, performance management, job eliminations and other terminations, disciplinary actions, and other issues representing significant risk to the organization.
  • Provide recommendations on policies and procedures that support a positive work experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
